Casa D’Italia opens its doors

-

The old Casa d’Italia will open its doors once again this month … but alas only for the day! The occasion is the annual Glasgow Doors Open Day which allows the public access to buildings all over the city which are normally closed to the public.
The old Casa at 22 Park Circus is now used for civil wedding ceremonies. The building was designed by James Boucher in 1872 and built for the Glasgow industrialist McFarlane ‘the Ironmaster’ and lavishly refitted by Salmon and Gillespie. It served as the home of Scotland’s Italian community for the best part of 70 years.
Doors are open on Sunday 21 September from 1-4pm. Details and bookings can be made at http://http://www.glasgowdoorsopenday.com/ or by telephoning 0141 221 6061
