The Fish and Chips Festival, considered the most original food festival in the area, will take place from the 19 to 21 July and then from 26 July to 16 August at the Barga Football Stadium “J. Moscardini”. The festival is dedicated to the strong emigration link with Scotland and to the “Barghigiani” who opened up the first Fish and Chip shops in Scotland between the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
In the early 80’s some “original” Fish Friers from Scotland revealed the locals the secret on how to prepare the special batter and fry the fish in deep-fry pans using real haddock. The Football Assocation launched the first Fish and Chip festival that turned out to be a great success and now every year hundreds of people from all over flock to the football stadium to taste the delicious crispy fish and chips.
After dinner, entertainment guaranteed with live music and dancing and special evenings dedicated to piano-bar, karaoke and the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s music. There is also a special play area where children can enjoy themselves in safety on inflatable games.
