Magnificent Presences is the artistic project that unites the Casa Museo Giovanni Pascoli of Castelvecchio Pascoli in the province of Lucca and the Foundation Il Vittoriale degli Italiani at Gardone Riviera “for a future of art, literature and beauty”, according to the words of the President of the Vittoriale Prof. Giordano Bruno Guerri.
Giovanni Pascoli and Gabriele d’Annunzio had strong ties of friendship and antagonism. In the complex intrigue of a little known relationship, made of contradicting sentiments, the two poets were bound by a contrasting emulation which was also the testimonial of a society and crucial era of our history.
Pascoli and d’Annunzio reach our present with the exhibitions of Magnificent Presences that will be visible at the same time in both museums: the photographic one by Caterina Salvi Westbrook, named after the entire project that exalts both residences and the artistic one by Sandra Rigali, with a pictorial collection of faces, relationships, friendships and documents that testify the lives of the two protagonists. An exhibition of 60 works of art that enhance topics, letters, relationships and documents of that modern yet antique era in a “pop” way. In the same way, original documents of the archives will be exhibited highlighting the most hidden traces of their relationship under the direction of Daniela Marcheschi and famous studies and literature critics edited by Sara Moscardini of the Casa Museo Giovanni Pascoli.
The exhibition, directed by Franca Severini, giornalist and editor of ZonaFranca Editrice, will be officially opened on the 1st of June at the Vittoriale degli Italiani and on the 3th of June at the Casa Museo of Giovanni Pascoli, with the collaboration of Barga Town Hall, creating an avant-garde touristic and cultural circuit in Italy of the beauty, art and culture of our country.
