The solemn procession of Saint Christopher is one of the most touching traditional events in Barga. Celebrations take place as always on the 24th and 25th of July starting with the solemn procession which is one of the most suggestive religious manifestations in the entire province. The Patron Saint will be carried through the spectacular and picturesque procession followed by hundreds of participants and figures in costume on the evening of the 24th of July from Sacro Cuore Church (at 9 pm) to the Duomo.

The religious feast continues on the 25th with Holy Mass at the Duomo at 11 am dedicated to the “Misericordia Jubilee” and will be celebrated by the Archbishop of Pisa Mons. Giovanni Paolo Benotto accompanied by the Church Choir.

On the 24th other events will take place like the traditional prize-giving ceremony organised by the Town Hall during which many local and distinguished people will be awarded the “San Cristoforo d’Oro”
